Yes, that's right, it's the coffee Mitchell makes for Black Daniel in Ripple Effect. Yes, I bought it because it's now canon that's the coffee Daniel likes. Yes, I am a sad bastard. No, I don't see myself leaving this sad bastard state any time soon.

Ooh! It's dripping through the filter! SQUEE!

You are very, very sad. Very, very, very sad.

Where did you get it from? And is there a supplier near me?

Ha!

I bought it online at www.northern-tea.com. I bought a 125g bag of Sumatra and 125g bag of Blue Mountain and it was 4.41 including postage. Took about 4 days. They do some interesting teas. The Chinese white tea is something I've never tasted.

You know, I forgot to post that I bought a bag of the stuff myself. "Sad" be damned - I'll take gourmet recs anywhere I can get 'em.

I want to hear how you like it once you taste it. I think my taste just isn't that refined, because I like it, but it's not blowing my mind or anything.

We'll be sad together. Sad is the new cool. No, really.

It's very smooth and surprisingly refreshing. Some coffees I find can leave a cloying feel in the mouth or have a bitter or acid aftertaste. I find this doesn't. I'm not a purist when it comes to coffee so I do have mine with milk and one sugar, so it would taste different for those who drink it black. That said, it's one of the few coffees I can take black without it tasting too bitter for my taste. Have you tried Blue Mountain?

No, I've not tried Blue Mountain. I'll look into it.

I agree, a lot of coffees are too bitter or acidic, and this one's not that way. It's just I have a really cheap "Hawaiian Blend" I get at the grocery store - already ground, in a can - that's also nice. Which is why I wasn't perhaps as impressed as I should've been with the SM...?

Or maybe my pallet's just not that reclined. ;)

Rushes off to buy some.

I used to get the most wonderful creamy coffee from a little shop in Long Acre when I lived in London. I've never found a coffee as good as that. Will be intrigued to see how Daniel's brand compares.

But... but... it's canon that that is the coffee Black!Daniel likes, not Our!Daniel. o.0

Mmm, that sounds yummy. If you ever find it again let me know.

I think a dash of gingerbread flavouring might go nicely with this.

*pulls out slides and projector*

No, you see our Mitchell told Black Daniel what the coffee was, how he'd made it, then said "lucky guess" so the likeliest source for that lucky guess would be our Daniel. So neener. ;-P

Oh boy, I love that stuff. Used to be my staple. I always bought it from Bettys in Ilkley, and you can buy online from Bettys now, although your supplier seems cheaper. In fact, it's my all time fave coffee - such a chocolatty taste. I need to buy some!

Didn't realise it was mentioned in Stargate, I'm obviously behind on watching episodes!

Heh, my palate isn't exactly choosy when it comes to caffeine. One of my favourite coffees is Hot Lava Java which is fairly cheap. I don't have the patience or the means to grind my own beans.

I wouldn't have said it had a chocolate-y taste but I'm now on my third cup, the second without milk and sugar, and now I can indeed taste something very much like dark chocolate.

I think it was jolly decent of Joe M to give Daniel such a nice coffee. :-D

That's it. The earthy taste and dark chocolate kick can depend on the strength, but it's probably easier to detect with only a little milk and no sugar. Strongest when the beans are freshly ground.

Quick/cheap way of grinding beans is a blade grinder. I got a nice one from Starbucks for just over £12. It only takes 15 seconds to throw a couple of dessertspoons of beans into the grinder, slap on the lid and hold down the button for 8-10 seconds. That generally produces something fine enough for cafetiere or filter.

Blimey. For that price I'd make the extra effort. I'll check out Starbucks at Borders, see if they carry it. Ta! :-)

I promised myself that I wasn't going to use my credit card for a whole month, especially not for internet purchases. 's really horrid of you to talk about buying coffee, you should've known that I'd go and order some for myself.
