Worst. Promo. Pic. Evah!
Sep. 12th, 2007 07:35 pmI thought some of the SG-1 promo pics were bad. We had the deranged airbrusher of season 10. I thought the season 7 SG-1 pic where Daniel's head had been superimposed over that of Jonas was awful. This S4 Atlantis pic (ergo spoiler!) has to be the absolute pits. Nothing works. Height differences, lighting, McKay and Ronon as hobbits...

Date: 2007-09-12 09:43 pm (UTC)But I do know David Hewlett has mentioned wearing his leather jacket in some of his postings, so I'm thinking they actually do show up at some point. Perhaps they're considered the "dress" uniform or something?
The "flow" of the fabric and leather is what makes it so wrong on her. It makes her thighs look huge, and I know they're not. AT is an attractive older women (and I'm not too far behind her in age, so I can say older and get away with it *g*), but they keep trying to dress her and do hair and makeup like she's much younger and the effect actually makes her look older. I've seen her at cons, and she looked so much better without the overdone hair and makeup.

The hair I get, it's a novelty after 10 years of having the studio and military insisting on how she wear it, but I'll never believe she chose those hideous trousers. ;-P

Date: 2007-09-13 12:44 am (UTC)I understand the hair too. I know she'd get extensions during hiatus, and women in the military can wear longer hair within certain limits anyway, so I don't know why they didn't make allowances a long time ago.
I think the new look is symbolic of the final break from the "old school" of SG-1, where many of the characters were supposed to be members of the US military thrust into adventures on other worlds.
That had been fading for years on SG-1 anyway, but they were still paying lip service to it because of the USAF advisor, but SGA didn't have that restriction -- and there's no need to borrow USAF equipment anymore when everything has been "sci fi-ed" and they can create any weapons, ships, etc. they want.
