Worst. Promo. Pic. Evah!
Sep. 12th, 2007 07:35 pmI thought some of the SG-1 promo pics were bad. We had the deranged airbrusher of season 10. I thought the season 7 SG-1 pic where Daniel's head had been superimposed over that of Jonas was awful. This S4 Atlantis pic (ergo spoiler!) has to be the absolute pits. Nothing works. Height differences, lighting, McKay and Ronon as hobbits...

Date: 2007-09-12 07:50 pm (UTC)Both McKay and Ronon are shrinking. McKay looks like a Munchkin, while Ronon is now shorter than Teyla.
I think it's obvious that they didn't actually pose for a group picture together, but it was Photoshopped together from individual shots.
I've heard looking at the hi-res version is even worse, but I haven't actually seen it. I don't think I want to. ;)

Still, I dont' trust these people. Right now, better not to have much faith and be pleasantly surprised.

Date: 2007-09-12 09:05 pm (UTC)But then I'm one who immediately thought the "leak" was of the "accidentally on purpose" variety because TPTB are running scared about fan reactions. They know there's a checklist of things a given fan could be upset about, and the renewal decision will only have a few episodes of season four coming into play, so they're probably very nervous in Bridge-land.
I'm going to wait until things are further along before I even attempt to watch. I watched SG-1 begin the slow slide at the beginning of season four... coincidentally when Mallozzi and Mullie joined up (they're now showrunners on Atlantis) and Sam started being pushed between Jack and Daniel. I can't watch it happen again. Not good for my blood pressure. ;)

Date: 2007-09-13 09:56 am (UTC)Yeah, I agree. I don't think these two episodes are the rule of the rest, but they certainly stopped some fan outcry, which backs up the leak not being that accidental. That makes a lot of sense.
Those two episodes had enough John and Rodney to keep many fans satisfied, which is good for M&M. Despite that, I am not going to start trusting those two, who in a good day are very mediocre writers and on a bad day could ruin any show you think of.
I'm pretty sure this will be like SG-1 season 4, when everying was ruined. It's the same, and as you say, Mallozzi and Mullie are there in the middle of the mess. I wish I could do like you, but I can't help myself and will watch the whole thing, just as I did with Sg-1 (Minus some season 6 because I couldn't bear it).

Date: 2007-09-13 02:13 pm (UTC)I'll probably eventually watch it, but from a distance, as in when the DVDs come out. I'll have already heard the feedback from fans, so I'll know if there's anything Irresistable/Irresponsible worthy to avoid, that sort of thing.
I still haven't watched the end of season three. I'd actually downloaded it, but the news of Sam's move and M&M in charge came out right about the time Sunday was coming up, and I basically said, "Screw it." It was just too much happening at once, and I didn't want to deal with it after all the drama in SG-1 fandom. I didn't watch it on Sci Fi and haven't gotten around to watching the downloads either (though I know what happens), much like I never got around to watching a lot of SG-1's 6th season.
In my perfect world, someone would post some "best of" clips from each episode (especially John/Rodney stuff). I'm actually following a storyline from a soap opera this way, watching five minutes of the show every few days instead of an hour each day hoping the part I'm interested in will air that day.

Date: 2007-09-12 09:08 pm (UTC)And sadly, fans generally have "fixed" versions out within 24 hours that look like they should have in the first place, and I'm not talking about the shippy and slashy versions either. ;)

Date: 2007-09-12 09:41 pm (UTC)Fans are wonderful. I love their creativity and ingenuity. You're right, fixed versions will surface and the McKay and Ronon hobbits will be no more.

Date: 2007-09-12 10:19 pm (UTC)Wait, wait... we've got McKay and Ronon as hobbits, and Sheppard was already an elf with those ears. What does that make Teyla and Sam? The Good Witch of Athos and the Wicked Witch of Atlantis? [ducking rotten fruit thrown by Sam fans] ;)

I think Sam was Galadriel aka the Good Tokra in 200. Having looked at the pic again, I think Ronon is actually Gimli. This makes me sad.
