Today was eventful to say the least.

Had a great time with Lex, despite Cafe Nero's lack of chocolate fudge cake. Helped put a table together. Stroked cats. Had a lovely time chatting. The drive home proved not so enjoyable. An accident happened about 15 feet in front of my car. Poor driver clipped a parked car and flipped his car. Right over. Onto its roof. It was shocking how easily it went over. Clearly VW makes sturdy frames because, despite landing hard on the roof, the roof didn't buckle. Passengers were fine, thank goodness. I was pleased to see how many people got out of their vehicles to help instead of driving on. Spent half an hour getting rained on while letting other drivers behind me know what had happened and to give a statement to the police.

More 'fun' was to follow. I'm not familiar with the area so when nice policeman told me I could get back on course by taking such-and-such a road I followed his advice. I must have missed a turning because I ended up travelling down a narrow country lane in the middle of nowhere, which apparently led on to roads that went in two directions: More Nowhere and Back of Beyond. So I'm driving along, it's pitch black because there are no lights, the road is winding, narrow and full of large puddles. I have no clue where I am. It's pouring with rain, so much my windscreen wipers are on double speed. The wind is picking up and either side of me are trees. Big trees. Trees that have lost branches during the recent gales, going by the debris at the sides of the road. It's at this point I start getting that shaky tearful feeling of mild shock. Bloody lousy timing.

Huh. Not sure why I'm posting this as I don't really use my lj for life stuff. Maybe I just need to write it down because it still doesn't seem real. The car flipped like it was in a movie stunt. Cars shouldn't be able to do that, not at 29 miles an hour damn it, and not when there's a kid in the back.

(((((ankh)))))

What a horrible thing to have witnessed, and then getting lost. I'm glad you are home and safe. Be gentle with yourself for the next few days. You've had quite a traumatic experience and may well feel a bit off kilter. If you need to talk, you have my phone number.

*hugs*

You're a sweetie. :-) I'm fine, really, and not planning on doing any driving today.
