Where the heck is Vala?

Got this in my update/alert email from TV Shows on DVD website:

This is supposed to be an SG-1 team pic, right? So where the heck is Vala? I used to think someone creating these covers had a hard on for AT/Sam and the reason MS was shoved into the background so often (sometimes missing altogether) was because he doesn't have Girl Bits; then I saw the cover for Atlantis with McKay shoved waaaay into the background. Now this. Vala has Girl Bits. Vala is on SG-1 full time. Vala isn't on the cover. Add the cover of season 1 NCIS dvd (Tony's face is cut in half) and I'm going to conclude that images are randomly selected and hacked to bits by a semi-trained monkey, with extra banana pieces attached to the Lead Male and Lead Female. Dammit, can't they leave the poor monkeys to groom each other and toss scat and have human beings creating these things?

I think if Sam and Vala were both on the cover, there wouldn't be room for anyone else. It would be Photoshopped Duel of the Boobies. ;)

I figure Vala, as well as Landry, who was also in the opening credits, will feature on the individual case art.

They seem determined to stick to the "shove everyone into a circle" artwork style they've been using since season one, and it's already hard to get four people in without shoving someone to the background. Especially with Sam's boobage taking up at least 1/4 of the space.

I much prefer the full cover art like Atlantis uses, but even then they have a tendency to shove some to the back anyway. Let's just wait until the season four DVDs for Atlantis come out, which I'm sure will feature Sam and her boobage up front and center.

I'm hoping there's going to be a new release of dvds that moves away from the same boring artwork we've had for ten seasons. It's old hat. Something in the vein of the Atlantis cover art is what I'd like to see for SG-1.

On the one hand, I like the idea of consistent art, but on the other, their artwork was crap. That little Stargate frame just isn't all that exciting and you can't really see what's in it (other than Sam's boobage, because there's no way you can miss it).

Why not have hints of the gate along the edges of art with more room for the actors? I know, I know, I'm thinking logically again. Silly me. ;)

Oh my ... what an enormous pair of boobs Sam has. I suspect Sam took a deep breath and poor Vala was bounced out of the frame.

Hopefully either the UK version or the Proxis one will have a better front cover. Maybe they both will.

The UK version seems to go for the same artwork, more's the pity. Like Nialla said, the Atlantis artwork is much prettier, so we can but hope.

Yeah, it p*ssed me off too, and I'm not a huge Vala fan. She IS part of the team though, isn't she? You could be forgiven for thinking not. And I'm starting to suspect that every male in the known (and unknown) universe has a hard on for Sam/AT. Sigh....

I like Vala, I'm happy to have her around, though I'm not fannish about her. But, like you, I feels she's part of the team and should be there. I wasn't a fan of Jonas Quinn (too many bad associations because of Meridian) but he was a full time member of SG-1 and it was right that he was on the season 6 cover. Same with Vala.

My theory is the marketing departments, or at least the people who make the final decisions, are not fans of the shows they're marketing, so they for the standard cliches. "Oh, there's a female in the cast, ergo she must be Teh Sex for the show, so let's Photoshop her boobs."
