For season 4, it looks like they've moved away from the Hollywood musicals look and have decided to go with classic lit. Look, it's Gulliver Gibbs and the itsy bitsy people of Lilliput:

It just begs the question, doesn't it: Is it *really* that hard to design attractive DVD boxset covers? And, honestly, does the "star's" face always have to be so...huge?

Apparently, it's enormously difficult because there are so few attractive ones when you have a cast of more than two. I see big head and get an impression that no one else on the cover matters a damn. You'd think the others would be a selling point, especially Michael Weatherly and David McCallum because of their other work. How many casual MUNCLE fans would give it a go if they knew 'Illya' was in it?

But if Michael Weatherly and David McCallum were bigger, than the rest of the cast's agents would complain. I guess this one is marginally better than the last one, because at least the rest of the cast is standing together, so no one is half cut out of the picture.

The whole promoting the "star" to the detriment of the rest of the cast is ridiculous. The show wouldn't be anywhere without the rest of the cast.

At least there's no pointy boobs of doom on this cover though.

I think if they made the star smaller, and the rest of the cast big enough to actually make out their faces properly, it would look fine. It's the huge difference in size that looks bizarre.

"The show wouldn't be anywhere without the rest of the cast."

I agree. NCIS is a show where I like all the cast. Even Jen the Director, who used to annoy the crap out of me, is fine now. I have my favourites but there's no one I actively dislike. I like Gibbs, but without Tony, Abby and the rest of them to provide a contrast and to 'soften' the impact, I'd think Gibbs was a macho bullying prick.

You know, it makes me glad I don't generally buy boxed sets anymore, because the covers annoy me greatly.

I get your point... but you know what annoys me the most? When they totally change the packaging between seasons. I started getting the Criminal Intent DVDs cos I always miss the show on TV, but love D'Onofio's character. First season, it's a fold out full set. Third season, it's a thinner set, with two disks on either side of a divider, second season - which came out after third (go figure!) - i't different again.

Grrr. It makes my shelf look messy. :: pout::
