Lost my Chick Flick gene.
Jan. 16th, 2007 06:33 pmToday I watched a movie, 'Just My Luck', and reached a startling conclusion. At some point over the past year I lost my Chick Flick gene. 'Just My Luck' was a decent enough film. Fairly likable characters. Undemanding story. Unlucky Boy meets Lucky Girl. They kiss and swap luck. That's how it works - they kiss, they swap fortune. They meet later after Boy is successful and Girl is an accident-prone mess. Perky Heroine (and when did RomCom heroines become so young?)realizes what happened and kisses our Formerly Geeky Looking Hero (who still looks too young to drink). They fall in love. I'm supposed to think 'That's nice' and accept it for the simple fare that it is. I'm not supposed to wonder 'When they split up who gets custody of the good luck?'. I'd better not watch my favourite chick flick, 'While You Were Sleeping', just in case I start seeeing Joe Jnr as a lecherous would-be rapist and Lucy as a scheming gold-digger.
